Florian Smit – Professional photographer in Germany

My connection with nature began in early childhood, but photography became a part of my journey later. In 2012, I made the bold decision to leave high school to fully dedicate myself to my passion for photography. Three years later, in the summer of 2015, I completed my photography training as one of Germany’s top graduates. Since then, I have worked as a freelance nature photographer.

Through my lens, I capture quiet, intimate moments in diverse landscapes around the world. Spending countless hours outdoors, I strive to showcase the uniqueness, beauty, and fragility of our natural environment. My images stem from a deep desire to share my love for nature and its wonders—offering glimpses that are both unique and moving.

I believe that a powerful photograph does more than document a scene—it conveys the artist’s vision.

For me, it is essential that my images are created in the wild, in real and untamed nature. My approach is to capture each scene as it unfolds in front of me, directly in the camera, rather than relying on post-processing. A high-quality filter system is a vital tool in this process, allowing me to adapt to changing light and natural conditions on-site.

The unpredictability of nature makes every moment behind the camera an exciting and unique experience. But more than anything, photography allows me to do what I love most.
