Julia Redl – Professional photographer in Germany

I live with my family in southern Germany, just a stone’s throw from Lake Constance, with nature right at my doorstep.

From a young age, I spent countless hours exploring nature, photographing plants and landscapes. At first, I focused on the motifs around me, later expanding my search during my travels across Europe and on long-distance trips.

In 2016-18, I tried my hand at wildlife photography with my first digital camera, but I wasn’t satisfied with the results, likely due to my limited background knowledge. Determined to improve, I attended evening courses to learn the fundamentals – from apertures and exposure techniques to long exposure photography. I also participated in landscape photography workshops to refine my skills in using filters.

For me, nature photography is not just about capturing beauty – it’s about expressing my feelings, sharpening my senses, and developing my creativity. It allows me to let my imagination run wild.

Over time, I embraced minimalism in landscape photography, a style that has become one of my favorite forms of expression. In today’s world, often overwhelmed by sensory overload and complexity, a minimalist approach lets me highlight the natural beauty of landscapes by focusing on what is essential and eliminating distractions.

Filters play a crucial role in this process. They allow me to create negative space and emphasize a single object, helping me bring my vision to life. The KASE filter system, with its colour neutrality and high-quality filter glass, has been invaluable in realising my ideas.
