About Daniel Costa
Daniel Costa is a Portuguese landscape photographer from Sintra, where his connection with nature and the Atlantic coast shaped his appreciation for the natural world. He began his photographic journey in 2015, discovering photography as a way to express not only the beauty of a landscape, but also the emotions and experiences it evokes.
For Daniel, photography is an invitation to experience a place rather than simply look at it. Through light, atmosphere and composition, he seeks to capture fleeting moments and convey the feeling of being there — from the stillness of mountain mornings to the raw beauty of Iceland and the ever-changing rhythm of Portugal’s Atlantic coastline.
Particularly drawn to mountains and alpine landscapes, Daniel finds constant inspiration in Iceland’s dramatic scenery and unpredictable conditions. Seascape photography also holds a special place in his work, reflecting his connection to the ocean and the interplay between sea, land and light. His approach is shaped by the belief that nature is constantly changing, and that observing, feeling and being present are just as important as creating the final image.
Alongside his personal projects, Daniel organises group photography tours in Portugal and abroad, tailor-made experiences for private groups, and photography workshops. Based in Sintra, he aims to share Portugal’s diverse landscapes with photographers from across Europe and beyond, from its dramatic coastline and rugged mountains to its atmospheric forests and lesser-known locations. Through these experiences, he also helps others develop their technical skills and creative vision.
Through his photography and his work with others, Daniel hopes to encourage people to slow down, connect more deeply with nature and appreciate both the beauty and fragility of our planet. Ultimately, he wants his images and photographic experiences to inspire a greater appreciation for the natural world and the importance of preserving it.
