Biography Melanie John
Since 1995, I have been photographing as "Fototante" (Photo Aunt). By the way, I owe this nickname to a client whose wedding I was lucky enough to photograph.
Raised in Sauerland, I have been living in Frankfurt am Main since 2000.
My transition from analog to digital photography in 2006 sparked my passion for architectural photography. After about 10 years in Mainhattan, I needed more. My first trip to the Lofoten in 2014 ignited my love for landscape photography. Even though I still offer personal coaching in Frankfurt, I always schedule several workshops each year, both in Germany and abroad. I exclusively announce my workshops on my website:

I was once called "travel-obsessed," and I can't disagree. Always hunting for the best light combined with beautiful motifs, I travel the world. These road trips, combined with some of my crazy experiences, are the perfect balance to my job in the bank. I love those quiet moments at sunrise, often accompanied by wonderful lighting, where you can simply unwind.
Since 2009, I have been working part-time as a Fototante.
In 2010, I started experimenting with filters and was immediately hooked. A shooting technique that never gets boring.
What lasts long...
It's great that I can now work with the top-class filters from Kase!
I offer my photographic works exclusively for licensing or as high-quality prints on my website.
