Short Bio Thorge Berger

Thorge Berger, born in 1966, is a versatile travel photographer, author, and speaker from Cologne.

After studying musicology, German and English literature, he initially began his career in the music industry. In 1999, together with his wife Heike, he founded PE-Support, a company for personnel and organizational development, which they still run today. At the same time, Thorge Berger has steadily built up his passion for travel photography into a second professional path. For over 40 years, he has traveled the world, visited more than 50 countries on 5 continents, and is known for his intense, sensitive photo reportages. He is a member of Freelens, Germany’s professional association for photography and visual arts, and a board member of the Society for Image and Presentation (GBV).

Highlights of his work include the multimedia presentation "IRAN – Hidden Beauty", which was awarded third-best travel presentation at the legendary El Mundo Travel and Adventure Festival in 2021, and his current live reportage “Magical INDIA”.

Thorge Berger has published two books so far, including the illustrated and narrative book “Images from IRAN”, created together with his friend and colleague Mehran Khadem-Awal, and published by Fotoforum Verlag in the Edition Bildperlen. His specialist book “Travel Photography – How to Take Fascinating Pictures – from Planning to Post-Processing” has received over 50 five-star reviews on Amazon and is now available in its second expanded edition at dpunkt Verlag. His photos and articles are regularly published in various photography magazines, and in 2013, he was named “Grenzgang Photographer of the Year” by Fotoforum magazine.

Since 2012, he has been sharing his expertise in lectures, workshops, seminars, and photo tours. He is frequently booked as a speaker by various organizers: Fotoschule Köln, FotoTV.de, Globetrotter, Photo + Adventure, Fürstenfeld Nature Photography Days, Laupheim Photo Days, Freinsheim Photo Days, Fotoforum Academy, Welt & Wir, Grenzgang, Mundologia, Fernweh Festival, Wunderwelten, Explora (Switzerland), Bilder der Erde, and many more.
