The magnetic protective filter is intended as an "always-on" protective filter for the Sony FE 300 f2.8 lens against scratches and dirt.

The base adapter ring is screwed into the lens hand-tight and then fixed in place with the counter screws.
The protective filter is then screwed onto the base adapter ring hand-tight. This guarantees a secure hold.
